Srinagar – Chief Secretary . Madhav Lal Monday chaired a meeting to review the status of the Integrated Cluster Development initiative by the government for craft tourism and rejuvenation of handicrafts sector in Shehr-i- Khas Srinagar.
While reviewing various project components, the Chief Secretary stressed that the detailing of each component should be carried out keeping in mind the visual appeal and other essential ingredients for expression of a perfect Artisan cluster to develop.
The Chief Secretary was informed that the base line survey covering all the 10 handicrafts clusters has been completed and detailed project report (DPR) has already been submitted to the Development Commissioner Handicrafts, Ministry of Textiles (GOI).
Chief Secretary was briefed about various developmental activities to be carried out including upgradation of roads, bye-lanes, Facade upliftment, electrical and sewerage distribution system. He was informed that encroachments along the artisan cluster stretch have been removed and various restoration works of heritage structures is being carried as per the development plan.
The Meeting was attended by the Administrative Secretaries, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Director Handicrafts, Director Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), representatives of IL&FS and other senior officers.
