Pays rich tributes to Martyr Saroop Singh
Jammu – Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla today laid foundation stone of Rs. 3.41 crore Water Supply Scheme (WSS) at Trikuta Nagar in Sector -3 taken up under BasantVihar Water Supply Scheme(WSS).The commissioning of 15000 gallon per hour discharge capacity deep drill tube well project would meet the drinking water requirements of BasantVihar, BhawaniVihar, Laxmi Enclave, Chopra Lane, KhoWaliGali, Manyal Lane, Marakadi, Trikuta Nagar Extension and Adarsh Enclave areas having a population of 7500 souls.
Addressing a large gathering after laying the foundation, .Bhalla said that with the commissioning of tube well in April 2013, the above said localities would get adequate drinking water supply three times a day. He called upon the people to use water judiciously.
The Minister said that the Government has issued instructions to the PHE and ERA officers to put their all out efforts to provide adequate drinking water facilities to the areas facing water scarcity by digging deep drill tube wells and hand pumps. He said there was no constraint of funds under PHE and ERA sectors.
. Bhalla said that the Government has recently dedicated an additional 50000 gallon per hour discharge capacity filtration plant at Boria in Bahu Fort area. He said that the commissioning of this filtration plant at river Tawi has eased the drinking water problem in Bathindi, Nowabad, Doongian, Reika, Trikuta Nagar, Kiryani, Shanker Nagar, Channi Rama, Sainik Colony, Thanker, Rajiv Nagar and Nowabad would be supplied to the residents of these areas. He said with the commissioning of additional filtration beds, approximately 9 lakh gallon per day water shall be added to the existing system which shall provide respite to the people especially water deficit areas of his home constituency.
The Minister said Government has done a lot to conserve and protect the water resources of the State. He said J&K was the first State in the country to enact laws to regulate the usage of water resources. . Bhalla said Government was working on a plan for development of adequate drinking water facilities in peripheral areas of Jammu city. He said that coalition Government was committed to provide all basic amenities like drinking water, power supply, healthcare and education. He said that comprehensive plans are in pipeline to provide adequate water supply to rural and far flung areas of the State. The Minister said that during four years of the present regime, unprecedented development has been witnessed across the State. He said that during this period, several projects in the PHE and irrigation sectors have been taken in hand. He asked the executing agencies to make optimum use of funds and complete the left out projects under PHE, ERA, Irrigation and Flood Control sectors in a time bound manner. He urged the people to personally monitor the development works being executed in their respective areas.
Later, .Bhalla also visited Azad Nagar and attended 50th Martyr Day of S Saroop Singh, who laid down his life, while fighting Indo China War in 1962 at Leh. He said, Martyr S Saroop Singh fought with bravery and strived for maintaining sanctity and honour of his country at the cost of his life. He further said that different wings of security forces have a glorious past in guarding the borders and they have been fighting the enemies of nation with great bravery and dedication.
