Says Sate Govt Empower Panchayats in Real Sense
Bishnah – Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare,GhulamNabi Azad Sunday said that the state government has postponed Block Development Council elections to incorporate the laws necessary for the real empowerment of Panchyats here.
For making provisions for extending reservation to women and other weaker sections of the society., the BDC polls were deferred by the state government, addressing at the Shaheedi Divas Samaroh organised by DograSadarSabha Azad said.
Meanwhile paying tributes to the soldiers, he said that the army, BSF and other belt force personnel have made supreme sacrifices to free Jammu and Kashmir from militancy.
When people sleep in their cosy houses, these valiant soldiers guard the frontiers of the country in face of all odds, he said.
Azad also announced that the Government Hospital Bishnah would be up-graded to fifty bedded hospital with a provision of better medicare facilities.

Slathia, and other senior leaders of Congress were also present on the occasion.
Listing the measures taken up by the centre for improving the medicare facilities, he said that under a new scheme being launched by the union government patients at all the government hospitals would be provided free medicines. He said that to contain the child and pregnant mother mortality rate, the government has launched a scheme to provide free of cost diagnostic tests during the pregnancy period and transportation at the time of child birth.
Speaking on the occasion, union minister for water resources, PawanBansal also paid rich tributes to the army, BSF and other para-military Jawans who laid attained martyrdom while protecting the nation form the enemy.
Highlighting the achievements of central government, he said it has been fairly liberal in providing funds to the state for improving basic amenities and accelerating the developmental activities. He said the water resource ministry has launched various schemes in Jammu and Kashmir to up-grade facilities of irrigation and conservation of the water resources by developing barrages.
Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, while speaking on the occasion, hailed the centre for providing liberal funding to the state to launch massive development activities across the state and rebuilt the infrastructure damaged during the militancy period. He also hailed Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson < Ms Sonia Gandhi for showing keen interest in meeting the developmental aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
On the occasion, the families of the martyrs soldiers were also honoured by presenting mementoes and shawls.
