SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Dr. Asgar Samoon Wednesday asked the divisional administration to make necessary arrangements for the month of Muharram in Kashmir, Leh and Kargil.
Samoon stressed upon the officers to extend all facilities to the people especially in the Shia dominated areas.
He directed the concerned departments to ensure un-interrupted power and drinking water supply besides availability of essential commodities. He also directed the Forest Department to ensure adequate quantity of firewood for distribution. He directed the health authorities to ensure availability of ambulances, first aid kits, doctors and para medical staff during the Muharram days.
The Divisional Commissioner also directed State Road Transport Corporation and Regional Transport Officer Kashmir to ensure deployment of adequate number of buses and availability of proper transport facilities at designated locations. He also instructed the Srinagar Municipal Corporation to ensure cleanliness around Imambaras, Mosques and roads and replace damaged street lights. He also directed the Roads & Buildings Department to ensure road repair that lead to Imambaras.
