Arrangements For Eid, Muharram Finalized
Srinagar – To ensure the availability of essential commodities in the Valley in view of forth coming Eid-ul-Azha and Muharram, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon Wednesday chaired a meeting of all deputy commissioners of Valley here.
Threadbare discussions were held for ensuring availability and smooth supply of LPG to the consumers.
Divisional Commissioner on the occasion stressed for gearing up of District Administration to prevent black marketing and artificial shortage of essential commodities. He emphasized for ensuring the distribution of LPG as per the roaster to avoid any inconvenience to the consumers.
It was given out in the meeting that sufficient stocks of 29,776 metric tons of Rice, 6798 metric tons of Wheat, 3397 metric tons of Sugar and 4836 Kilo liters of Kerosene Oil are available in the godowns of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Kashmir, besides, 1,05,700 LPG cylinders are also available.
For the convenience of consumers, seven Poultry Sale Centres including one Mobile Sale Centre have been established by Animal Husbandry department, the meeting was told. The seven Centres at Hari Parbat, Gow Kadal, Nowhatta, Khanyar, Bachpora and Mobile Sale Centre shall make available 1.5 lakh live poultry birds to the consumers on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
Div Com also urged the Srinagar Municipal Corporation to ensure cleanliness around the shrines and mosques including Eid Gah, Srinagar, Dargah Hazratbal, Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, Masjid Sharief Syed Sahib Sonwar besides other mosques of the city.
It was decided in the meeting that adequate transport facility and uninterrupted power supply shall be made available on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha, besides market checking shall be intensified to curb profiteering and black marketing.
Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir convened a meeting of officers and representatives of Shia Community to ensure dependable facilities available to the Shia inhabited areas with emphasis on repair of roads, health and power facilities during the ensuing Muharram. It was decided that concerned departments shall undertake necessary repairs of roads, transformers, lanes and drains in these areas.
