No land should be given to Indian soldiers: Kamal
SRINAGAR: National Conference Friday said that it is quite naïve on part of the Defence Minister to forward a plea to the Jammu and Kashmir government demanding a piece of land to Indian soldiers who have served in the state. The Indian Minister Manohar Parikar knows it well that State Subject law exists in Jam-mu and Kashmir and yet he indulged in mischief. There was no need to forward the plea as the matter should have been ended right inside the Rajya Sabha, NC Additional General Secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal said.
Kamal said that the sole purpose of the move initiated by Defence Minister is to create fissures in Jammu and Kashmir politics and to depress and dishearten the people of Kashmir. Are these Indian soldiers refugees that they need land in Kashmir. Are these Indian soldiers orphans, without any families that they want to settle in Kashmir, Kamal asked and said that it is a serious issue and Government of Jammu and Kashmir should out rightly snub the Parikar, who according to Kamal is a trouble and war monger.
Kamal alleged that India never wants to withdraw its troopers from Kashmir and on the pretext of one or the other it is making sure that Army rule the roost. The Army in Kashmir is responsible for the innocent kil-lings and this institution has got ruined as Army has started meddling into the civil affairs. The former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee had warned that if Army is kept involved in civil affairs, the troopers will get corrupt and the institution will get ruined, he said.
He urged upon the State Government to make it clear before the Central Government that State of Jammu and Kashmir enjoys special status and State cant provide land to the Indian soldiers here. It will have serious and dangerous repercussions if the State Government provides land to soldiers on lease, he said.
Pertinently, BJP MP Tarun Vijay had raised the demand to give a piece of land or a well-built apartment on a 99-year lease in any city or area of the choice of soldiers who have served in Kashmir valley or to the next kith and kin of those soldiers who have laid their lives while fighting in Kashmir.
