Srinagar: Police on Saturday arrested five peddlers from two separate places and recovered over two thousands bottles of prescription drugs and 700 grams of Brown Sugar from their instance.
Acting on a specific information, a police party of Police Post Bemina under the supervision of SDPO West, during Naka checking at main chowk Bemina apprehended a suspect Mushtaq Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Qadir resident of Cheqar Pattan, a police spokesman in a statement issued to GNS said.
On his search, police recovered 39 bottles of Codeine Phosphate. His arrest led arrest of two more peddlers identified as Ishtaq Ahmad Kawaja son of Abdul Hamid resident of Pamposh Colony Noorbagh and Zahoor Ahmad Hajam son of Mohammad Maqbool resident of New Colony Sopore, the official said.
During investigation, police recovered 2000 more bottles of Codeine Phosphate from the house of one of the accused Ishtaq Kawaja. Bemina Police has registered a case FIR number 176/15 under section 8/22, 29 NDPS Act and investigation is going on, he said.
Meanwhile, two persons namely Adil Aziz Wagay son of Abdul Aziz resident of Noorbagh Baramulla and Sajad Ahmad Beigh son of Mohammad Usman resident of Narbal Check, Kawoosa were arrested alongwith 700 grams of Brown Sugar.
Both the accused have been taken into custody and case FIR number 77/2015 under section 8/21 NDPS Act has been registered. Further investigation in this regard is going on.
