Srinagar – The Three youth, who had jumped into the well of the Legislative Assembly here and created ruckus demanding announcement of employment policy by state government last week, were granted bail by a city court here.
The court of chief judicial magistrate granted bail to the three youths – Manish Khajuria, Ambedkar Gupta and Sunny Malhotra -after their families had moved their bail applications in the court.
The three youth had made headlines on October 8 by jumping into the well of the House, demanding implementation of employment policy in the state. Believed to be activists of a newly floated political party, Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Front, they had managed their entry into the House on the special passes issued by the expelled BJP member, Jagdish Raj Sapolia, who is said to be its member. Shouting slogans in the well, they were whisked away by the Marshal and arrested.
Taking a serious view of what he termed as contempt of the House, the speaker, Muhammad Akbar Lone, had ordered initiating proceedings against the expelled BJP member, who had facilitated the trios entry into the public gallery.
However, the court rejected the prosecution plea that the offence committed by the youth was of very serious nature and should be deemed as an attack on the highest legislative body of the state.
It may be recalled that while various political parties had condemned the youths action, the supporters of the little-known JKDF had stated a protest demonstration in Jammu against their arrest.(Agencies)
