Srinagar – In a tragic incident, 40-year old labor identified as Gawhar Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Muhammad of Gantamulla, was killed allegedly after being run over by macadamizing machine at Ushkara Baramulla Sunday. Police have registered a case and arrested the operator of the machine.
According to reports, Mir sustained serious injuries after being run over by the machine. He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed. He was working with Project Beacon for the past 15 years. Massive protests broke out in the area soon after with the protesters demanding adequate compensation for the bereaved family.
Police have registered a case under section 304/A vide FIR No 216/12 and arrested the accused operator identified as Vikram Singh. The deceased, father of three children, was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard. (KNS)
