It was shocking to read an article in one of the prominent valley based newspapers today, in which the author had suggested government to rethink on the issue of re-employment of few retired efficient persons in various departments. Let the author be visionary and look beyond few intelligent retired officers, as we have cream of unemployed youth in the market.
The bold step taken by the Mufti led coalition of banning all such re-appointments is appreciable. The government has shown transparency in showing door to the re-employed, who were engaged in various government departments from the past many years. What is this all about? Does the author want to see these retired people clinging to their chairs till they breath. The practice was not only against the sentiments of meritorious unemployed youth but they were a burden on the government exchequer as well.
Let me be precise in saying that the previous government had given long rope to the blue eyed persons to loot the government money that too after their retirement. Why to promote such a culture in the state by sucking blood of the meritorious unemployed youth? Why not to engage unemployed youth who even after crossing upper age bar fail to get a job? Who will come to their rescue as they walk from pillar to post to find a suitable job.
These authors need to know an unemployed youth has parents behind who provided him/ her education by investing their life long earnings. It appears that the author has some personal interest or tries to oblige any particular person, section or agency. We must try to appeal the government to pave way for creating avenues for those who are highly qualified but with no job, so that they are able to feed their old aged parents and families.
I fail to understand the idea of the author behind such advocacy and hope that the author desists in feeding the paper for personal interests. Newspaper editors are requested not to give space to such writers.
It would be more appropriate for the government to retrieve the salaries of the reemployed blue eyed people from their pension. Hope the practice is buried once for all.
