Parents and students demand safety and security of Kashmiri students
Srinagar: Police Tuesday said that it has forwarded the complaint to Director and CVO Vigilance that was lodged by Kashmiri students about the manhandling incident in the college at Kanpur on Monday.
We have already issued helpline numbers for the Kashmiri students studying outside Jammu and Kashmir. We received a call from Maharana Pratap group of institutions, Kanpur and the students claimed that they were manhandled by the local students there. We soon after receiving the call, forwarded their complaint to Director CVO Vigilance New Delhi Dr R.S Rathore. He will pursue the case and will take up the issue with the college authorities, a police official told CNS adding that to ensure the safety of the Kashmiri students studying outside the state is the priority of the police and civil administration.
Meanwhile, the students and parents staged a protest in Press Enclave against the manhandling of Kashmiri students studying at Maharana Pratap group of institutions, Kanpur. The parents and students accompanied by JKLF leader Javid Ahmed Mir threatened to organize demonstrations all across Kashmir in case government fails to ensure the safety and security of the students studying outside state.
This is not the first incident but from past many years, Kashmiri students are targeted just because they are Muslims and Kashmiris. The culprits who manhandled Kashmiri students for keeping beard must be booked and taken to task, the protesters said.
Pertinently, a Kashmiri student from Dulatpora Chadora namely Ishfaq Ahmed was ruthlessly beaten by some local students in Kanpur and when Kashmiri students protested against the incident, they were also manhandled and roughed up. (CNS)
