Srinagar: Police have arrested four alleged drug smugglers in Hajin area of Bandipore district and recovered three kgs of charas besides cash amount of Rs 40500 from their possession.
On a specific information regarding movement of drug smug-glers who were in a process of finalizing a drug deal, police laid a naka at Hajin, Bandipore. The naka party intercepted a Maruti car bearing registration number 5502/JK01 coming from Hakbara towards Hajin. During the search of the vehicle 3 kgs of charas and cash amount of Rs 40,050 was recovered from the car. Police arrested all the four smugglers boarding the car, a police spokesperson said.
The arrested smugglers were identified as Aman-ul-lah Wagay son of Habib-ul-lah Wagay, Showket Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Sadiq residents of Hakbhara, Sumbal, Zahoor Ahmed Sheikh son of Ghulam Hassan resident of Nowhatta, Srinagar and Manzoor Ahmad son of Habib-ul-lah Beigh resident of Hawal, Srinagar.
Bandipore police has registered a case FIR number 9/2015 under section 8/20 NDPS act in Police Station Hajin and investigation was taken up. During investigations, it came to surface that the arrested persons were notorious charas producers and smugglers who were finalizing a drug deal and the contraband was to be smuggled to Srinagar city for sale among the youth indulging in its abuse, he claimed. kns
