Police arrests paramour to ascertain the facts
PULWAMA: Police Thursday arrested a man for allegedly poisoning her pregnant paramour to death in Rajpora area of Pulwama district.
A 22-year-old pregnant girl from Qalampora Rajpora had died of suspected H1N1 virus at SKIMS Soura on March 5 this month.
The SKIMS authorities in its report had maintained that the lady, who was referred as a case of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and suspected case of H1N1, died after doctors diagnosed Intra-uterine death of foetus.
The death of the said lady due to Swine-flu had created panic in Rajpora and its adjoining areas while the authorities had advised people to take extra measures to avoid getting infected.
Reports said that after going through the SKIMS report that had called the deceased unmarried lady as pregnant, the First Class Magistrate ordered police to probe the matter and accordingly in a swift action, police arrested a suspect who reportedly had an affair with the deceased lady.
Police sources informed that the accused who has been identified as Muhammad Yaqoob Bhat son of Ghulam Nabi, a resident of Qalampora Rajpora confessed before police that he had an affair with the deceased girl.
We have been investigating the case as there is every possibility that the culprit may have poisoned the lady. Initial investigation has revealed that deceased woman was pregnant and the accused was desperate to avoid embarrassment . Police says the accused was frequently administering some poisonous substance to the girl which ultimately resulted in her death.
A Police official said that nobody cast a doubt on the heinous crime of the accused as the word had spread in the area that the deceased had contracted H1N1 because the local Primary Health Centre doctors had referred her to SKIMS after she complained of respiratory disorder.
We have arrested the accused and an investigation is going on fast track, he said.
Meanwhile, the district administration has ordered police to exhume the body of deceased woman. Yes, the body of the deceased will be exhumed on March 14 (Saturday). Postmortem will be conducted to ascertain the facts, the police official said. –With inputs from CNS

Srinagar: Srinagar police has arrested an internet offender who was posting defamatory and fake messages about a woman on social networking sites Facebook and WhatsApp.
Police Station Parimpora was informed by a woman that an unknown person was posting defamatory and fake messages and pictures regarding her on social networking site Facebook and WhatsApp. A case (FIR No. 50/2015 under section 504,506,509/RPC) was registered in this regard and investigation was taken up.
During investigation police succeeded in identifying the culprit who was taken into custody. He was identified as Mohammad Sarjan Mir son of Sanaullah Mir resident of Safapora, Ganderbal, who was the ex-husband of the woman.
Initial investigations revealed that the offender had posted such messages and pictures in order to defame the woman to settle past score.
