Srinagar- Need based works engaged in the Sheep Husbandry Department in 2014 allege that some Department officials are using delaying tactics to stop them from seeking information under RTI of some tainted employees.
The disengaged workers say, in 2014, around 250 people were appointed in the Sheep Husbandry Department and services of almost all of them were dismissed during the coronavirus pandemic. They also allege some influential employees were reengaged in the Department.
“We were verbally told that we were no longer on the pay rolls of the government”.
After being left “unemployed” by the Sheep Husbandry Department, the two disengaged workers filed an RTI application to find the truth behind the alleged illegal appointments.
However, on 27th June, 2022, Abdul Hameed Bhat S/O Ghulam Muhammad Bhat, R/O Chadoora, Budgam and Bilal Rashid Hurra S/O Abdul Rashid Hurra wrote an application to the Public Information Officer, Department Of Sheep Husbandry, Lal Mandi Srinagar and sought information of the re-engaged employees under the RTI act of 2005.
However, much to the disappointment of the applicants, the officials have allegedly failed to provide them with the relevant details of the reengaged employees.
“Some of reinstated employees work in Kupwara farm, some in Direction Office Srinagar and some are posted in Bandipora” Abdul Hameed Bhat said.
“We did an RTI seeking their appointment order but no one is listening to our pleas” he added.
Abdul Hameed further said the Sheep Husbandry Department has failed to provide them with the re-engagement order of some of the appointees.
Disengaged workers also alleged the officials have failed to provide bank details of the alleged tainted worker from Rainawari, Srinagar who is drawing more salary than he should.
However, officials in the Sheep Husbandry Department have denied such claims as baseless.
Speaking to Kashmir Observer, a senior official of the Department said the RTI applicants have sought information of a particular employee for which we have to take his consent. All other details have been provided to them.
“The Director has ordered us to seek permission from the employee. Once we are done with the formalities, we will provide with the information”
“It is going to take five to ten days” he said.
