BENGALURU: The World is a Global Village .A philosophy propagated more by modern day business than preachers. Exports, international trade and business expansion dreams necessitate seeing beyond horizons known to many.
We fill colors into the dreams of many an entrepreneurs says Princess Fay Jahan Ara, President Asian-Arab Chamber Of Commerce (AACC) explaining the role of chamber. It plays a crucial role of facilitating businesses in the Arab and Asian regions. The very fact that a small exporter, from Bijapur in Karnataka or a Kashmiri craftsman from a remote village can not just hope that his product is exported, but become part of a forthcoming delegation to Brunei, demonstrates the power of what a trade body like ours can do adds Asif Iqbal, Executive Director , AACC
For businesses to thrive, it is essential to have a strong advocate on your side. The Asian Arab Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization dedicated to actively supporting its members as well as providing unique and valuable business solutions to ensure these businesses grow and prosper in regions they never explored before.
TransAsia News caught up with Princess Fay Jahan Ara, President AACC and Mr Asif Iqbal, Executive Director AACC in Bengaluru to understand the important role that the AACC plays and the vision they have for business promotion through the chamber.
I believe that business practices are changing and with more youth entering the business arena, they have bigger dreams than ever before, I envisage that there is a huge need to help these young entrepreneurs in India to help them realise their dreams. The strength of their dreams is that they grow not only themselves but help create a lot of employment and that is helping the people at large, by this huge potential for job creation said Princess Fay.
The Asian Arab Chamber of Commerce has helped provide several international platforms for entrepreneurs through a global event ‘Transcending Asian Borders’ (TAB) which helped over 230 delegates from India to build economic bridges by promoting their businesses.
The Chamber is confident that they dont want their members to just Make In India vision of the Indian Government but wants them to Make in India and Export to Arabia, Executive Director said adding, We are focusing on MSMEs (Medium and Small Manufacturing Enterprises) to explore the world. We train them , help them get financial assistance , give documentation support and most importantly support for international connections through the AACC offices in other countries said Mr Iqbal.
The chamber stands out as its membership is not limited to major corporate, but offers same services to small biz houses, individuals and craftsmen. This is the core strength of our Chamber as it is working where there is a need and the potential of getting talent from rural and semi-urban sectors says Asif Iqbal.
The Asian Arab members’ business entities can use the resources of the AACC offices worldwide at a nominal cost and thus can look beyond without having to invest in office and communications infrastructure. Members are updated with information on developments, opportunities, research etc.
Fujairah Trade Zone offers immense opportunities and we are working with AACC members to understand the opportunities in this region which is a very safe zone for investment and business. There are no restrictions on businesses in this part of UAE and we will take people there to see the place to set up business there. We have already got an Indian investment of $6 Mn there says Fay.
But the key factor is that business potential in unexplored sectors is huge. India and Brunei do not even have direct diplomatic relations. A huge demand for Indian products has AACC achieve a new breakthrough,A full fledged trade delegation of AACC will be visiting Brunei shortly. Its a first but a crucial step, never tried by anyone before says a confident Asif Iqbal. The chamber has recently managed to get a $5Mn research grant for an Indian based laboratory on molecular research.
AACC feels that the opportunities for business growth between UAE and India are very high, especially in the core strength that India has of skilled IT manpower. Arab business houses and investors look forward to partnerships with Indian companies ,In UAE They look forward to honest , transparent business modules and want them to come and work there with some real investments in Pharmaceutical sector, Infrastructure and also in IT sector. Many Indian businesses could seize these opportunities says Asif Iqbal.
The Asian Arab Chamber of Commerce has seen its mission and role continuously evolve with the needs of Asian Arab businesses and the community at large. Women empowerment is a key thrust area, as is also evident from the fact that several key posts of AACC, including the President are with women. As far as businesses are concerned women are taking up major responsibilities, I can see the changes and am glad that governments including th Indian government is coming forward to educating women. Now is the time to take women along in business ventures, if we miss the opportunity, the society will lose Fay said.
The AACC by supporting Emerg, a womens forum in Bengaluru this week showcased its commitment to the cause of womens development. Speaking to the audience comprising mainly Indian women entrepreneurs , Princess Fay appealed to them to look beyond what they have achieved Women have the power and the skills to excel beyond what men can achieve, I can see the changes and gives me this wonderful feeling that we are marching ahead as women. But we must remember to take the men along, as we dont compete with them but work together.
