Kangan: The locals of Chattargul Kangan Tuesday staged a protest against authorities alleging that officials have swindled large chunk of money under Indra Awass Yojna (IAY) in the district.
Scores of protesters appeared in Kangan market and amid anti-authorities slogans alleged that Panchayat Body in league with Village Level Workers while ignoring the deserved beneficiaries, are giving benefits under IAY to those who are influential and powerful. There are numerous examples how well-to-do people have availed the benefits under IAY. We demand strict action against the corrupt and guilty who violate the norms for their petty benefits, one of the protestors told CNS.
When contacted Block Development Officer Kangan, Ghulam Qadir Gojri said that if allegations are proven, he will initiate action against the VLWs and Panchayat body. (CNS)
