Srinagar- A blood donation camp was organised at Lalla Ded (LD) Hospital Srinagar on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day Tuesday. The camp was conducted under the guidance of Medical Superintendent (MS) LD, Dr. Muzaffar Sherwani.
Inaugurating the camp, Blood Bank Officer, LD, Dr. Javaid Iqbal Khan, said that the camp was organized to create awareness among the general public about the importance of blood donation. It is a global call for people to come forward and donate blood voluntarily. He further said that the donation camp was organized in collaboration with Good Morning Kashmir, J&K Red Cross Society, HOPE Trust etc.
In addition, students, Journalists, doctors, as well as paramedical staff of LD, also donated blood voluntarily. After proper donor screening and medical examination of all voluntary donors, more than 40 donors donated blood for the noble cause.
Azhar Hajini, a well-known Television Presenter and Broadcaster while donating the blood for the maiden time expressed satisfaction over the organization of such camps which help saving many precious lives. ‘’Turns out that donating blood doesn’t just benefit recipients, there are health benefits for donors too, on top of the benefits that come from helping others,” Hajini said.
Hajini further said that the day is meant to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation and the crucial role it plays in saving lives across the world.
Medical Superintendent (MS) LD, Dr. Muzaffar Sherwani who was also present on the occasion said that the blood donated by volunteers including employees will be of great help in meeting the requirements of needy patients.
