Srinagar- The Institute Of Advanced Studies In Education (IASE), M. A Road on Wednesday held a poster making competition to make students aware about the increasing cybercrime.
The event was held with an aim to instill good cybersecurity habits that will make it easier for students to avoid falling victim to security threats in the future and facilitate an organizational culture built around threat prevention and mitigation.
The poster competition was titled “Say No To Cybercrime” and around twelve students of the college participated in the event.
The Art competition was organised by cyber cell of IT section under the under the supervison of Prof. Mohammad Yaseen and Prof. Syed Shabana Shabir and Department of Art under the supervison of Arshid Sauleh.
“Art makes it easy for us to understand things, it can be used to make people aware about cybercrime” said Arshid Sauleh.
“As we witness an increase in the number of cybercrimes, it is our responsibility to make students aware about the online fraud”, he added.
Breaking traditional barriers of holding competitions under four walls, the event was held in the midst of nature under the shade of mighty Chinars.
The students thanked the college administration for organizing the event and underscored the need for holding more such events in the future.
“Internet has to be used responsibly, one is vulnerable to Internet frauds”, said Izzat Showket, a participant.
“The event will go a long way in creating awareness about cybercrimes” she added.
It is pertinent to mention Cybercrimes include phishing, data theft, identity theft, online lottery, cyber-attacks, job frauds, banking frauds, cyber-bullying, online blackmailing, morphing, cyber grooming, cyber-stalking among other crimes.
Kashmir has seen financial frauds that are used by cybercriminals including OTP, vishing fraud and online marketplace frauds. As the number of Internet users increases by the day, fraudsters use every possible method to ditch people who are new to the internet.
