SRINAGAR: The third front leader Hakeem Yasin on Wednesday said Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was not accorded mandate by the people to join hands with the BJP.
Talking to KNS, Yasin said that it might be true what the PDP claims to have been elected for a change in the system in Jammu and Kashmir but at the same time that fact cannot be ignored that people didnt give votes to PDP for forging alliance with the BJP.
Hakeem also welcomed the measure of Omar Abdullah in which he offered full support to PDP for the formation of what he termed a secular coalition in the state.
PDP wanted a written affirmation from National Conference, now that has been given. They must give a thorough deliberation to the issue.
Maintaining that he is not interfering into the inner policies of the PDP, Hakeem Yasin who recently won from Khansahib assembly segment said it is the internal matter of the PDP and he cannot give his suggestion to the party.
Yasin was however quick to add that PDP must recall what it promised to the masses during the election rallies. Isnt it true that that it was PDP and Mufti sahib who in open declared that if anyone can stop BJPs march in Jammu and Kashmir, it is PDP. They must recall what they have said, Yasin maintained.
Over the issue of issuance of the permanent settlement to Pak refugees in Jammu, Yasin said that such a measure is fraught with the dangerous consequences and its repercussions would be hazardous. The situation would turn turbulent and we will not allow anyone to approve such a step that would change the demography of the state. We will oppose it with indomitable will, Yasin told KNS over phone.
