Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it arrested four notorious burglars and recovered huge quantity of stolen merchandize worth lakhs of rupees from them in Zewan area of Srinagar city.
A spate of burglaries in shops and houses were reported in Zewan and Khanmou areas in recent days. Police had assured the common people that Police would take all measures to stop the recurrence of burglaries and detect that case of burglaries at an earliest, a police official told CNS.
He said Panthachowk Police had constituted a special investigation team headed by Station House Officer to solve the cases of burglaries. During the investigation of the cases police succeeded in apprehending four burglars, from their instances large quantities of stolen merchandize were recovered from different places, he added.
He identified the arrested burglars as Omar Jan of Zewan, Tawseef Mir of Pampore, Muzafar Misgar and Manzoor Chopan both residents of Khonmou. With the arrests of these four burglars and the recoveries made from them Police have solved 2 cases of burglaries that had taken place in Zewan and Khonmou areas in the recent days, the officer claimed and added that two FIRs vide numbers 1/2015 and 3/2015 under section 379,109,457,380 have been registered against the burglars.
