Asks officers to ensure good governance
Jammu: Governor N N Vohra Saturday formally took over the reins of the government in Jammu and Kashmir and asked the administration to take all necessary steps to ensure developments and good governance.
After issuing the proclamation of Governors rule in the State on Friday, Vohra was given a warm welcome with guard of honor on his visit to the Civil Secretariat here on Saturday.
The governor reached Civil Secretariat at around 2pm and was accompanied by Chief Secretary Iqbal Khanday, Principal Secretary Home Suresh Kumar, Director General Police K Rajendra. He was given a warm welcome with guard of honour by police, one of the senior officials said.
He said that the governor chaired a high-level meeting of secretaries of various departments and reviewed the progress of development. In the meeting, sources said, Vohra spelt out his priorities and called for completion of key projects within a short time frame. Priority attention should be devoted to development projects like roads, bridges, education and health care services, he told the officers according to sources.
The Governor also stressed that each public servant must do his job efficiently and honestly, sources said. Later according to sources the Governor visited the Police Headquarters and reviewed the overall security situation.
Holds Meet
Governor Vohra had a meeting with the Administrative Secretaries of all the State Government departments at the Civil Secretariat, Jammu, today.
The Governor asked the Secretaries to take effective steps to ensure that the functionaries of the departments and agencies under their charge attend office punctually and work with due devotion. He also stressed the importance of ensuring efficient and honest functioning of the various public service delivery organizations and timely redressal of public complaints and grievances.
The Governor called upon all the Secretaries to clear all pending cases and asked the Chief Secretary to send him all the cases which relate to policy or significant decisions. He urged them to take all necessary steps to achieve the objectives of good and responsive governance in the State, at all levels of functioning.

K. Rajendra Kumar, Director General of Police, J&K, called on N.N. Vohra, Governor, at the Civil Secretariat here today. The Governor reviewed the internal security situation in the state with Mr. Kumar and urged him to ensure effective maintenance of internal security in the State.
The Governor also held separate discussions with B.R. Sharma, Principal Secretary, Planning and Development and B.B. Vyas, Principal Secretary, Finance and reviewed all major issues relating to the current Annual Plan, formulation of the Annual Plan 2015-16, budgetary issues, payment of wages to casual employees and other matter relating to fiscal management.
