Srinagar: Pandit organization, Kashmiri Pandit Sangharash Smiti (KPSS) Friday alleged that National Conference is causing damage to the property and religious shrines of migrant pandits in Habakadal constituency.
In a statement issued, Kashmir Pandit Sangharash Smiti president Sanjay Tickoo said that a close aide of NC candidate for Habakadal Constituency in a bid to lure voters has constructed a urinal for people adjacent to the boundary wall of the Sheetleshwar Bhairav Temple. This NC worker has been damaging religious shrines for his petty gains. From past six years, this party worker with the help of his aides is using the name of National Conference to damage the identity of the Kashmiri Pandits in the Habba Kadal Constituency, Tickoo alleged.
KPSS has said that in recent past thirteen residential houses of Kashmiri Pandits in Habba Kadal were raised to ground by Srinagar Municipal Corporation without giving any information to their real owners. Two others houses of Kashmiri Pandits in same area were dismantles with the help of R&B Department by the same group to construct Shopping Complex for themselves, Tickoo alleged and added that a house of another Kashmiri Pandit in Barbar Shah area was demolished and a park was constructed on that patch of land.
Tickoo said that National Conference is resorting to such acts to seek votes from majority community. He said that NC workers in Habakadal constituency have been acting like goons who never miss an opportunity to damage the property of temples. Even the Police, Patwari and other Government officers are afraid of them and succumb to their hoodlum attitude, Tickoo alleged.
He said that National Conference in particular and State Administration in general does not want to Kashmiri Pandits to settle back in Valley. KPSS has appealed pandits to raise their voice against these elements who according to Tickoo are hell bent to damage the existence of Kashmiri Pandits.
