NEW DELHI: A day after a group of Muslim clerics alleged that RSS activists accompanying an Islamic cleric tried to lure them to vote for BJP, Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind (JUH) Friday revealed that an organization called Jamaat Ulema-i-Hind was active in Kashmir to persuade Muslims to vote and support BJP in the coming Assembly elections.
In an interview with Srinagar based news agency CNS, General Secretary JUH, Hakim-u-Din Qasmi said that in a bid to lure Muslim voters all across India, RSS in league with BJP persuaded a cleric from Bijnor Uttar Pradesh to float a parallel Islamic organization and to confuse common people they named it Jamaat Ulmae-i-Hind.
Our organization (Jamiat) was founded in 1919 and it is apolitical while BJP and RSS sponsored organization (Jamaat) is political in nature and its sole agenda is to motivate Muslims of India to vote and support BJP, Qasmi said.
He revealed that Jamaat is the brain child of RSS and it is run by Bijnor cleric Suhaib-u-Rehman who is presently active in Kashmir. This man (Suhaib-u-Rehman) is enjoying the patronage of BJP and RSS in Jammu and Kashmir and he has arrived in the State as their guest.
Suhaib-u-Rehman is finding all ways and means to get connected to some of the clerics in Kashmir to make BJP strong there, he said.
General Secretary JUH added that from past few years, Jammat under the presidentship of Rehman has successfully managed to persuade and motivate thousands of Muslims to join BJP. He has great purchasing power and is being whole-heartedly funded by RSS and BJP together.
