LOLAB: A one-day Inter-College (district level) Naat Competition was organized on October 13, by Cultural Committee, Debates & Seminar Committee, and Departments of Islamic Studies, Kashmiri, and Urdu of GDC Sogam (Lolab), Kupwara.
Prof. M. Shafi Lone (Principal, GDC Sogam) was the patron of the event and the Conveners were Dr Tauseef Ahmad Parray (Assistant Professor, Islamic Studies; Convener, Debates & Seminar Committee) and Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Kumar (Assistant Professor, Kashmiri; Convener, Cultural Committee).
In this event, eleven (11) students from five (5) colleges of district Kupwara including, GDC Kupwara, Women’s College Kupwara, Langate, Kralpora, and host College (GDC Sogam) recited their naat, and were judged by a 3-member jury. In this competition, Shahid Akram (GDC Langate), Nazia (Women’s College Kupwara), and Danish Hassan Mir (GDC Kralpora) bagged first three positions, respectively.
Certificates of participation, mementos and cash prizes of Rs 1500, 1000, and 700 were distributed among all the participants and position holders, respectively.
The event was moderated by Prof Farooq Ahmad Shah (Assistant Professor, Education of the host College) and it ended with vote of thanks, proposed by Dr Mushtaq Ahmad.
Besides the participants, the event was attended by over 80 students, and dozens of faculty members from the host college and participating colleges.
