Srinagar: Despite 300 percent increase in the tax revenue of Jammu and Kashmir and despite the repeated assurances of the state government, it is yet to re-organize the excise and commercial taxes department.
The question was submitted by the legislator Mohammad Ashraf wherein he had asked why the state government has not re-organized the excise and commercial taxes department when the tax revenue collection has increased by 300 percent.
The finance minister while responding to the question admitted that more than 300 percent increase has been witnessed and that the government is in the process of re-organization of excise and commercial taxes department. It maintained further that the proposal involves creation of a number of posts in various categories. The case has been referred to the general administration for its placement before the cabinet. The government stated further that as and when approval of the cabinet is received, the orders shall be issued by the finance department subsequently.
