Srinagar: The Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment, Mian Altaf Ahmad has instructed the officers of forest department to speed up stocking of timber and firewood in the sale depots and ensure that target fixed for current year is achieved in full.
The Minister was reviewing last years achievements and current years targets of timber and firewood, at an officers meeting here today.
Secretary Forests, Principal Chief Conservator Forests, Managing Director, SFC, Chief Conservators of Kashmir/Jammu provinces besides conservator and DFOs of different circles were present on the occasion.
Mian Altaf asked officers to conducting proper verification of the applicants before issuing timber so that genuine beneficiary is benefited.
The minister asked PCCF and circle heads to personally monitor the stocking operation so that adequate timber and firewood is stocked in the depots well in time. He asked concerned officers to accelerate extraction, transportation and marking operation.
The meeting was informed that department has issued 15.90 lakh cft in Kashmir Division during last financial year generating Rs.36.70 crore while in Jammu division, the department has generated Rs.1829.94 lakh during the period. A target of 16.28 lakh cft has been fixed for Kashmir division and 3.50 lakh for Jammu division for current fiscal.
It was given out that department has issued 1.32 lakh quintal of firewood in Kashmir division and 34 quintal in Jammu division during last fiscal.
