Srinagar,: Chairman of Hurriyat Conference G Syed Ali Geelani has urged the official authorities in Jammu to protect the Muslim in Gool Gujral, where the rightful citizens are being evicted by Jammu Development Authority.
“The evictions take place under the nose of the administrative authorities in Jammu. It is their moral and legal responsibility to protect the Muslims from dispossession.”
Meanwhile Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Wednesday strongly condemned the forcible eviction of more than a hundred Muslim families of Nomads. The association alleged that the shacks of the poor nomads were burnt down. “As if settlers have invaded the place, raising certain permanent structures at Gool Gujral area of Jammu,” a Bar spokesman said.
The Bar termed the action of Jammu Development Authority, Police and CRPF authorities as barbaric and said that no action was taken against the non-Muslim families residing on the same piece of land.
How can authorities indulge in such cruel and inhuman act when it had not even formulated a plan for the rehabilitation of these people, who were rendered homeless, the Bar said.
The Bar Association believes the method and manner employed by the authorities clearly shows that the ” authorities have acted on a well thought out plan to throw out these Muslim families from Jammu so as to allot the said land to certain powerful land sharks even allow those from Hindu communities or non residents. They have occupied thousands of acres of State land, on the basis of fictitious and fraudulent state subject certificates, the Bar said.
