Srinagar: Coronavirus claimed seven more lives in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday while 419 new cases, including nine soldiers, two minors besides 23 travelers, were detected in the Union Territory during the last 24 hours, officials said.
Among the seven victims, four were residents of Jammu division while three others hailed from twin districts of Baramulla and Kupwara in the Valley, they said. Among the victims included a 75-year-old man from Kupwara besides two persons from Baramulla district—a 60-year-old man from Dangiwachi and a 52-year-old from Hajibal.
In Jammu division, officials said, three of the victims were residents of the winter capital while another one was from Rajouri district.
With these deaths, the total fatality count in the Valley has reached 1148 and 645 in the Jammu region. Srinagar district with 433 deaths tops the list followed by Jammu (327), Baramulla (168), Budgam (105), Pulwama (87), Kupwara (88), Anantnag (82), Doda (58), Bandipora (56), Udhampur (53), Kulgam (52), Rajouri (53), Kathua (45), Ganderbal (40), Shopian (37), Samba (34), Poonch (22), Ramban (21), Kishtwar (20), and Reasi (11).
Meanwhile, the Union Territory witnessed 419 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, officials said.
While Kashmir valley reported 211 new cases, the remaining 208 were confirmed by the officials from Jammu Division.
Giving district wise details, they said, Srinagar reported 89 cases, Baramulla 24, Budgam 35, Kupwara 14,Pulwama 10, Anantnag 5, Bandipora 9, Ganderbal 16, Kulgam 0, Shopian 9, Jammu 118, Udhampur 26,Rajouri 12, Doda 9, Kathua 13, Kishtwar 13, Samba 11, Poonch 2, Ramban 3 and Reasi 1.
Moreover, they said, 430 more patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals— 226 from Jammu Division and 204 from Kashmir Valley. (With GNS inputs)
