SRINAGAR: Winning laurels for his home state, Dr Amit Wanchoo has become the first person from Jammu and Kashmir to be selected as the fellow for Global Leadership and Public Policy for 21st century at Harvard Kennedy School program designed for Young Global Leaders of World Economic Forum.
The selection criteria was based on making a positive network of visionary leaders who share a common understanding and commitment in addressing the most challenging global problems.
The admissions committee selected the participant groups which were balanced geographically as well as across the corporate, nonprofit, and public sectors.
The Global Leadership and Public Policy for the 21st Century program is designed by Harvard Universitys John F. Kennedy School of Government and the World economic Forum exclusively for Young Global Leaders.
This program features senior faculty from across Harvard University with expertise in the corporate, public, and non-profit sectors and will include experienced faculty and speakers from other world-class academic institutions.
The areas of focus include international development and poverty alleviation, environment, climate change, and energy, education, politics, global public health, International security and many more.
Previously, Dr Wanchoo was selected as Young Global Leader by World Economic forum in 2009.
In addition, he has been a Yale world fellow in 2007, SIP fellow in 2008, and star youth achiever in 2012. Dr. Wanchoo has also been a Commonwealth fellow, Paul Harris Fellow and has actively contributed in various progressive initiatives within and outside state.
Being a medical doctor, Amit has a variety of experience and diversity in his working profile. From medicine to music to social service and combining healthcare, entertainment and social entrepreneurship has been a great achievement. He has worked in different capacities in various organizations and has the distinction of founding SPACE communications, the first event and sports management company of Jammu and Kashmir.
