Srinagar: For the first time in India the entire segments of the Construction Sector have joined hands to give unified & environment friendly houses and buildings to the buyers keeping in mind that the price should not go up while thrusting on the total cohesion among various aspects involved in the construction sector.
Through a virtual launch event this Monday 26th October “FOCUS “Forum Of Critical Utility Services, the first in India & Global, this neo construction sector federation takes to become a reality, Chief Guest Dr Niranjan Hiranandani, co-founder & MD. Hiranandani Group of Cos, President of National Real Estate Development Council, NAREDCO & ASSOCHAM in his speech said “ thrust should be given for a total environment friendly structure with minimum usage of the various utilities along with critically controlling the price factor, this is all the more relevant in the wake of the current Global Corona Virus pandemic situation” he added.
Dr. Hiranandani stressed upon the long-awaited need for such a body and pledged his support to the President Mr. V Suresh & the members of FOCUS. He also drew attention to the of the values of quality, reliability, resilience, sustainability & timely completion of projects that FOCUS should help achieve and referred to it as a boon to the Construction & Building Industry. He also emphasized the importance of post occupancy maintenance of services and good Asset & Facility Management processes.
The paramount need for this association arose from the growing demand for well-founded information, standards and best practices to create synergy among Indian Critical Utility Services Sectors. FOCUS is the only forum or platform in India and possibly the world, addressing the holistic needs of all Critical Utility Services together.
The Forum of Critical Utility Services (FOCUS) is a body that is being described by its President Mr. V Suresh (the past Chairman & Managing Director of HUDCO & President Indian Green Building Council IGBC) as coming together of all the vital branches of the building construction industry to design, create, execute, deliver & maintain its critical utilities. The launch of this institution is touted to be a Global Initiative. The bodies that are set to work together as a single unit on the platform of FOCUS are Architecture, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Safety, Fire, Security, Illumination, Vertical Transportation, IBMS & IT, Solid Waste Management & Facility Management. Speaking earlier on the occasion he stressed the need for strict adherence to the quality norms as per the international standard and that would help us not only in better delivery within the country but at the same time help us in securing overseas business.
Vice President FOCUS, Mr. Ashish Rakheja also a Leading Consultant, Board Member ASHRAE-USA) stressed on the importance of resilience as the setback to our buildings is a set back to our infrastructure and this in turn is a setback to our economy.
He pointed out to the India Today statistics that India had lost around US$80 Billion in the last 20 years to Natural Disasters.
The advantage of FOCUS shall address all the three phases viz. pre, construction and operation phase of any project.
FOCUS, Secretary General, Mr A L Narasimhan said that Building Information Management, Artificial Intelligence with central command facilities shall help compliance. In the process, safe & secure working of all subsystems and their inter dependence gets highlighted. The Capex and Opex issues shall thereafter come into play for the Owner, Builder and User of the premises. He further said it would work for a common good by improving ways of working, skills for clients, customers, owners and occupiers by improving overall quality of life. He said FOCUS would help sectors to develop resiliency, build capabilities, develop human resources, skills and move towards achieving and sustaining excellence and to become a partner in growth of the Indian economy.
Mr Ravi Shankar Thandavan, Chairman, Policy & Advocacy, FOCUS, iterated that once this organization comes in full swing, the domestic construction will be able to avoid many of the unwanted goods.
With FOCUS, the Indian critical utility services sector is sure to set off a new benchmarks in the areas of productivity, safety and quality by improving ways of working, skills and standards and become centers of excellence by 2030, and to set a distinguished hold on the global map.
