Ramban- In a tragic incident three teenage sisters were charred to death in an overnight blaze at a remote village in Ramsoo-sub division of Ramban district, an official said on Monday.
Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Baseerul Haq Chaudhary said that an unfortunate fire incident took place overnight at Tajnihal village of Ukherhal tehsil in which three siblings died.
“Three sisters were asleep in the house, which caught fire in the night and all of them were burnt alive,” he said, adding that the house has also been damaged in the incident.
DC said the district administration has provided an immediate relief of Rs 3 lakh to the aggrieved family, further compensation and support will be provided as per the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) norms.
The deceased have been identified as Bisma Jan (14), Saika Jan (12) and Saniya Jan (16)—all daughters of Abdul Latief Lone of Tajnihal village in Ramban, the officials said, adding that the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile in two separate fire incidents in Srinagar seven shanties, four cowsheds, and a three-storey residential house were danaged in Zonimar, Soura, and Nowhatta areas of the city.
Sharing details about the first incident, an official from F&ES said that four cowsheds, single-storey house, and seven shanties were damaged in a fire incident, adding that the roofing, ceiling, and dry grass stored in attics of all cowsheds were damaged, while all shanties were severely damaged in the blaze at Zonimar.
About the second incident, the official added that one room on the ground floor of a three-storey residential house was damaged while the rest of the structure was saved.
Moreover, the official added that the cause of the fire is being ascertained and no loss of life or any injury was reported.
