Srinagar- Intensifying its efforts to end drug menace, Police on Tuesday attached a house and shops worth lakhs of drug peddlers in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A double-storied residential house worth over Rs 20,97,291 belonging to a notorious drug peddler Fayaz Ahmad Rather of Karimabad and wwo Shops with 2nd floor as residential apartment worth Rs 27,35,186/ of another drug peddler Mohammad Maqbool Bhat alias Tola of Dalipora Pulwama was attached by police under section 8/21-29 NDPS Act 1985, a police spokesperson said.
This action, he said, follows a thorough investigation, identifying these properties as illegally acquired during the course of illicit drug trafficking.
“Both individuals are currently under legal custody, reinforcing J&K Police’s commitment to combating activities detrimental to public safety and national security,” he said.
The spokesperson further said that the attachment was carried out in accordance with the due legal process outlined in FIR No. 301/2023 U/S 8/21-29 NDPS Act of PS Pulwama, underscoring the vigilant stance of Pulwama Police against those involved in the drug trade.
“This action reaffirms the commitment of Police to combat the drug menace. Local people of the area have hailed the initiative of Police with regard to the attachment of properties, which have been raised/ used from illicit trafficking of narcotics by the drug peddlers in the District Pulwama,” he added
