Srinagar- Police on Tuesday arrested two people, who were evading arrest for the last 14 years in a case filed against them in Police Station Awantipora in South Kashmir.
According to a police spokesperson, non-bailable warrants under section 512 CrPC issued by the Court of JMIC Pampore on November 23, 2009 against two absconders Balvinder Kumar Bhagat of Chalyari Samba, involved in case FIR No. 186/1996 under section 279, 304-A RPC of Police Station Awantipora and Jagjeet Singh of Simbal Camp Jammu, involved in case FIR No. 24/1998 U/S 279, 304-A RPC of Police Station Awantipora.
Accordingly, he said, a special team was constituted and the accused were arrested from Jammu. Subsequently, he said, the accused were produced before the Court of Law.
Moreover, the spokesperson said, one more warrant against Davinder Singh of Dingyana Jammu, involved in case FIR No. 63/1998 under section 279, 304-A RPC of Police Station Awantipora was disposed off due to death of accused and on production of death certificate by Police Station Awantipora.
“It is pertinent to mention here that during the current year Police in Awantipora have arrested 4 absconders involved in different criminal cases who were evading their arrests,” he added.
