SRINAGAR- Three Round 18 games of the 2023 Srinagar Premier League were played on Monday at Bakshi Stadium here.
In the first game of the day, a 10:00 AM kick off, Downtown Heroes FC took on Star Kashmir FC. The game played like a routine win for the Heroes, as Downtown opened the scoring through Kinesh in just the 3rd minute of the game. However, Star Kashmir held on as the first half ended 1-0. Just when it seemed Star Kashmir was making a contest out of this game, the Downtown Heroes attackers sprung into life. Kinesh scored his second in 62nd minute, before George made it 3-0 in the 72nd. Downtown Heroes player Kinesh was awarded man of the match for his role in the 3-0 win.
The second game of the day, a 12:30 PM kick off, saw J&K Bank FC lock horns with Sports Council Football Academy. The footballing powerhouse wasted no time breaching the academy boys’ defense, as Prem gave J&K Bank the lead in 3rd minute. Faisal made it 2-0 in the 20th minute, before Prem scored his second in the 23rd. At half time, J&K Bank led 3-0. The second half piled more misery on SCFA, as Farhan (49’), Adnan (75’), Uneeb (87’) and Shahid (89’) all got on the scoreline to make it a 7-0 win for J&K Bank. Prem was awarded man of the match.
The final game of the day saw FC1 take on Iqbal Sports FC at 2:30 PM. FC1 lived up to their favourites tag as Mehran Hilal gave them the lead in 7th minute. However, Iqbal Sports got back in the game after Hakim equalised in the 20th minute. The game ended 1-1 at half time. The second half proved to be full of missed opportunities as neither side could find the back of the net. The game ended 1-1, with Iqbal Sports’ Hakim awarded the man of the match.
Three matches are on schedule on Tuesday. J&K Bank Academy play ARCO FC in Game 1. Syed Tajudin FC take on Kashmir Avengers FC in Game 2, while the final matchup will be between J&K United FC and Real Kashmir FC (Reserves).
