Srinagar- The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested an employee of the food civil supplies and consumer affairs (FCSCA) department for demanding bribe from a man in Rajouri district for issuing below poverty line (BPL) ID to him.
Mohammad Reyaz, the Tehsil Supply Officer of FCSCA department, Rajouri was arrested by the sleuths of the anti-graft body for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 18,000 for issuance of BPD ID, an ACB spokesperson said.
Giving sequence of the case, he said, the anti-graft body received a complaint that the TSO demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant, who approached him for issuance of BPL ID of his brother to get separate ration card from his father. The complainant, he said, was accompanied by Dil Mohd, ration dealer, and had submitted the relevant documents.
He said a case FIR No. 05/2023 was registered at Police Station Anti Corruption Bureau Rajouri U/s 7 of the PC Act 1988, as the contents of complaint prima facie disclose the commission of offence.
“During the course of investigation a trap team was constituted. The team laid a successful trap and caught the accused Tehsil Supply Officer red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe amount of Rs 18,000 from the complainant,” the Bureau spokesperson said.
Reyaz, he said, was arrested on the spot after completing all legal formalities.
“Subsequently, search in the residential house of accused was also conducted. Further investigation into the case is going on,” he added.
