Srinagar- A court here has rejected bail application of two accused persons including a resident of New Delhi in connection with alleged supply of banned drugs.
“Having regards to the nature of allegation, evidence on record so far and rigors of section 37 of the NDPS Act is attracted in the present case. …..I am of the considered opinion, that this is the fit case, where bail ought not be granted, and the applicants/accused persons too have failed to carve out a case for bail in their favour,” 1st. Addl. Sessions judge Srinagar, Khursheed-ul Islam said while rejecting bail plea by Tufail Ahmad Chota, a resident of Nowhatta Srinagar and Shakir Khan of Batla House Jamia Nagar Delhi
“If they are granted bail at this stage there is every apprehension that the accused persons will repeat the offences,” the court said.
According to prosecution, Shakir Khan was arrested by a police team from Srinagar on 31 December 2020 from his house situated at Batla House Jamia Nagar New Delhi.
“During investigation accused Shakir Khan alias Ali Bhai has admitted that he had met Bilal Ahmad Sheikh (one of the accused in the case) in the month of September 2020 at Lajpat Nagar Market as his contact number was given to Bilal Sheikh by some person and since that day he has been in contact of Bilal Ahmad Sheikh,” the prosecution said, adding, “Bilal Ahmad Sheikh used to visit Delhi, he used to purchase Tapal-75 and Spasmoproxyvon etc. drugs from him.”
