Locals said fire broke out in the house of one Gulzar Ahmed Mir in the congested Aali Kadal area. Lone elderly woman present in the house as per locals couldn’t come out of the house due to her poor eyesight.

“The deceased woman was my cousin who was alone in the house when the fire broke out in the kitchen. I tried to save her, even opened the door but the flames emanating from the room pushed me back,” said a man, adding that the deceased woman along with her husband was scheduled to leave for the Hajj pilgrimage in the coming days.
