Srinagar- An unspecified number of militants managed to escape after a brief gunfight with security forces in Chakoora area in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday.
Official sources said that there was a brief encounter between militants and a joint team of police and army at around 06;15 hours today. They said there was a lull following which massive searches were launched. However, they said, there was no second contact established with militants nor any one was arrested, suggesting that the unknown number of militants fled from the spot.
Earlier, police said “Encounter has started at Chakoora area of Shopian. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow”. (KDC)
