
Kupwara- The district authorities have promised fair and impartial probe into the death of a man, whose body was recovered from a forest area in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district after 75 days.
The assurance was given to the family of Abdul Rasheed Dar by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Dr. Doifode Sagar Dattatray and SSP Kupwara, Yougal Manhas, who visited the bereaved family at Kunan Poshpora to pay their condolences, an official spokesperson said Friday.
Both the dignitaries, he said, assured the family that investigation will be conducted in a transparent and impartial manner to bring it to a logical conclusion.
On the occasion, the spokesperson said, the family members extended their gratitude towards the District Administration for tracing out the mortal remains of Dar.
He said BDC Chairperson and local Sarpanchs and Panchs present on the occasion, equally extended their gratitude to Deputy Commissioner Kupwara and SSP Kupwara in handling the case.
“The family members also assured that they will not allow any anti-social elements to take undue benefit out of the unfortunate incident,” he added
The body of Abdul Rashid Dar, who went missing on December 16, 2022, was recovered from Zurhama-PK Galli forests on March 1.
Dar’s family had earlier alleged that he was detained by the Army after which his whereabouts were unknown.
