SRINAGAR- The first District Srinagar Hogam Sports Competition was held on Thursday under the patronage of Jammu Kashmir Hogam Association at Harwan here.
The competition started with a run. Basic race formats included a 1-kilometre run with 10 or more obstacles, a water crossing, and rope-assisted terrain ascents.
Youngsters from various clubs and schools in the Srinagar district took part in this tournament.
“Everyone has dreams. But it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort to make aspirations come true,” Adil Teli, noted cyclist of the Valley stated while interacting with students.
We really enjoyed the hurdles, ascents, descents, and sprinting, said Zainab Aijaz.
“I am pleasantly glad and I wish other students to come out to participate in this event,” she added.
There are three sports branches: Tisapa (Crossing Sports Barriers), Lightning (Individual Arts-Deformation), and The Drama (Dramatic Fighting), according to Mr. Najeeb, who organised the District Srinagar Hogam Sports Tournament.
At the end of this month, the Hogam State Tournament will be held, he added.
Adil Teli, who recently broke the world record for the quickest bicycle trip from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, was the chief guest at the event and gave out awards to the students.
