SRINAGAR: In compliance with the already passed directions by the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, the special enforcement teams of the District Administration Srinagar Monday continued the ongoing market checking across the City.
The special Enforcement Squads headed by concerned Tehsildars of the District conducted Intensified market checking in their respective jurisdictions in order to ensure all essential commodities are sold at already fixed prices besides ensuring their quality and availability in City markets.
The concerned Tehsildars in coordination with Police, Legal Metrology, FCS&CA and other Departments carried inspections in Chanapora, Rawalpora, Sanat Nagar and other markets to curb the black marketing and profiteering in City markets in wake of ensuing winter season and booked several erring shopkeepers.
These shopkeepers were found failing to maintain the quality of food items, not displaying rate lists of essential commodities, selling expiry products, besides indulging in practices of illegal profiteering and sale of underweight products.
During the market checking, a fine was imposed on the erring vendors, besides huge quantities of expired food items and rotten vegetables were destroyed on the spot.
During the checking, the Enforcement teams also asked the traders and vendors to strictly adhere to the Covid-19 SOPs and ensure all customers are wearing masks while making purchases.
