SRINAGAR: The Taekwondo Association of District Srinagar (TADS) on Monday kicked off the opening ceremony of 11th District Srinagar Taekwondo Championships under the aegis of J&K Taekwondo Association (JKTA) at Doon International School, Srinagar.
The event aims at the development of this Olympic sport at grassroot level across all corners of Srinagar District.
The Gold medallists of all age groups will be selected for upcoming State Championship.
“Every athlete of the District be it junior or senior was having an enormous craze in their eyes for the said event. Around 250 athletes from District Srinagar participated,” the J&K Taekwondo Association said in an official statement.
“On the occasion of auspicious opening ceremony, Nuzhat Gul Secretary, J&K Sports Council was the Chief Guest, while Bashir Ahmad Bhat Joint Sec. J&K Sports Council joined as Guest of Honour,” the statement added.
“Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar, Manager Gindun Stadium, and Chairman Doon International School presided over as Special Guests.
“The event will be held under the supervision of Nissar Hussain (Vice President, JKTA) and the closing ceremony will be held on August, 24 at the Doon International School,” the statement concluded.
