PAGD Bags DDC Chairperson Seat in Anantnag

Anantnag: People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) on Thursday bagged the chairperson and vice chairperson posts of the District Development Council (DDC) Anantnag in south Kashmir.

Official sources said that National Conference’s Mohammad Yousuf Gursee was elected as chairperson while PDP’s Sheikh Javid Ahmad was elected as Vice-Chairperson unopposed.

NC and PDP are key constituents of the PAGD, an amalgam of six political parties seeking restoration of the special Constitutional status of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370.

They said all 14 DDC members participated in the election where Mohammad Yousuf Gorsi of NC got 11 votes and was elected as Chairperson.

Sheikh Javid Ahmad of PDP was elected as Vice-Chairperson unopposed.

The election process went on smoothly in presence of DPEO (Deputy Commissioner) Anantnag, Anshul Garg, Dy DPEO, ADC and other concerned officers. The DPEO administered oath to the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Garg congratulated both and assured full support for achieving new heights of progress and development in the district.
