Srinagar: One way traffic will be allowed on the 270-km Jammu-Srinagar highway subject to fair weather and better road conditions, as the weather department has predicted another wet spell across Kashmir, officials said Tuesday.

According to a communiqué by J&K traffic police, only one way traffic shall be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu, including Banihal-Ramban route tomorrow, subject to fair weather and better road condition. It further added that no vehicle including livestock or fresh perishable shall be allowed in the opposite direction.

The communiqué further said that the traffic control unit (TCU) Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic.

About the cut off timings, it said that light motor vehicles shall be allowed from Zig Qazigund from 8:00 am till noon.

“No vehicle shall be allowed before and after cut off timing. Heavy motor vehicles shall be allowed from Zig towards Jammu after light motor vehicles,” the communiqué reads.

It also advised security forces not to ply against traffic plan in view of congestion on Jammu-Srinagar highway and narrowness of Bailey bridge.

“They may ply from Srinagar towards Jammu after confirming the status of highway,” the communiqué said, adding “Mughal road closed due to snow accumulation,”
