Srinagar: Two teenage girls were killed in a hit-and-run accident in Pampore town of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, official sources said Wednesday.
Three teenage girls identified as Nazila, Tabin Nazir and Nadiya Rafiq were walking on a road in Tulbagh area of Pampore on Tuesday evening when a speedy vehicle (JK13F-0346) mowed them down, official sources said. The driver of the vehicle fled away from the spot leaving the three young girls in a pool of blood.
The injured girls were removed by locals to the sub-district hospital Pampore for treatment. However, one of the girls Nazila succumbed to her injuries.
Another teen Tabin Nazir breathed her last at SMHS Hospital, while Nadika Rafiq is being treated upon there.
A police official told a local news agency KNT that a hunt has been launched to nab the driver.
“A team has been constituted to identify the owner of the vehicle and he will be arrested,” he added.
