Srinagar: The Executive committee of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association on Monday demanded immidiate release of its incarcerated President Mian Abdul Qayoom.
In its meeting held in virtual mode today to discuss the emerging situation, which has cropped about threat of COVID-19 looming large upon inmates of Tihar Jail as reported a section of media, the Bar members expressed their anguish and grave apprehension about association president and Advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom becoming a victim of COVID-19 in the face of the underlying ailments he is suffering from due to his advanced age which includes diabetes, coronary heart ailment, lower lumber fracture while being in custody, a statement issued here said.
The handout further said that the Bar Association in its meeting resolved to impress upon the administration to direct his immediate release from custody to prevent any harm being caused to person of Qayoom endangering his life.
