SRINAGAR People in Kashmir Valley have reacted differently to the resignation of 2010 IAS topper from bureaucracy as some criticized him for using Kashmir to be a politician through match fixing while others hailed him as brave man to give up lucrative career for Kashmiris.
On Friday, the 35-year-old ruled out the option of joining of separatists camp, saying he is a man from the system and would be happy to change things by being in the system.
On Wednesday, Shah Faesal justified his resignation and sought suggestion from youth to decide his future course of action.
He said that his decision will depend upon what the people of Kashmir want him to do.
Kashmir Observer spoke to a cross-section of people in society and sought their reaction and suggestion over Shah Faesals decision.
Tajamul Islam, a PhD Scholar from Kashmir says Shah Faesal was befooling people. His statement is a brazen lie. He quit his office to join politics and not in protest against unabated killings in Kashmir, he said, adding, Using killings in Kashmir as a pretext to enter into the same politics that kills them exposes his ambition.
Activist Raja Muzaffar Bhat says that he can’t articulate whether Shah Faesals decision of joining politics was good or bad but commended his courage. Babus in Kashmir hold the chair tightly and some even tamper DoB to get the extension, he said, adding, only brave men can leave such a lucrative career
Tahir Hussain, a student of Mass Communication, believes everyone uses Kashmir issue to gain political scores and shah Faesal did the same.
Rather than being a yes man of his political bosses, he has chosen to be a boss himself, says Tahir, a resident of Srinagar.
Faesal can serve good to the people as a politician than as a helpless bureaucrat. Personally I feel we need good persons in politics and his decision is good because it is good to support a lesser sinner than a big sinner, he adds.
Shah Faesals decision looks like a fix-match for parliamentary elections, says Shahid Ansari, an entrepreneur .
Even before contesting, his opening statement in the interview was my immediate plan is to look at using Parliament as a forum.
He then in the very next statement, says Ansari, undermines the credibility of elections by stating there has been a history of New Delhi installing regimes and rigging elections in Kashmir, which is now again being renewed.
Iftikhar Abdullah, a Facebook user wrote on his FB wall: Factoring all theories of glorifying and maligning alike, especially the one that Shah Faesals larger than life poster boy image is a conscious creation of (New) Delhi to influence ideologies of Kashmiri youth and even admitting the latest in the series that his resignation and inclination towards indulging into mainstream politics is also a theatrics play; I, in all situations whichever have evolved such an amazing talent in our homeland, try to convince myself to stand by the man and his stance!
Humaira Shafi, a Twitter user, suggested to Shah Faesal not to choose politics: You’re the only example that almost every parent in #Kashmir used to give to their children. The role model of every student. Please, Sir, don’t take any such step that will totally change our thinking about you.
Another user Mukhtar Ahmad suggested Faesal to join the political party which will work for the resolution of Kashmir issue.
