SrinagarThe Srinagar Chapter of the Institute of Company Secretaries (CS) of India celebrated Golden Jubilee of the Institute at the Nowgam Campus-I of the Central University Kashmir (CUK) here Wednesday.
The function was attended by the members of the Company Secretaries fraternity, students and some invited guests who through video-conference listened to the live speech delivered by Honorable Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to the CS fraternity in New Delhi.
Vice-chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir was the chief guest while as Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar was the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor stressed upon the need for greater visibility of the profession and the operation of its chapter through holding of sensitization programmes across the Valley. He revealed that the Company Secretaries have a significant role in ensuring better corporate governance through a sense of accountability, transparency and efficiency.
Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar expressed optimism about the growth of the profession in the State and offered greater collaboration with the Srinagar chapter to take the mission forward.
Dean Students Welfare, Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Nikka who is also the Honorary Head of the Academic affairs of the Srinagar Chapter gave a detailed account of the activities of the Chapter and its future plans. The keynote address on this occasions was delivered by CS Showkat Hussain Rafiquee , Ex-Chairman of the Chapter.
Prof. Javed Ahmad Kamili, HoD Commerce and Management, Gandhi Memorial College also spoke on the occasion. The Srinagar Chapter later felicitated the Chief Guest and the former and present Chairpersons including CS Mohammad Shafi.
Chairman of the Chapter, CS Ghulam Jeelani Reshi expressed his optimism for greater commitment to promote the profession and extend every possible support to the aspirants seeking admission for the course. The event was organised in collaboration with the Department of Students Welfare of the Central University of Kashmir.
