SrinagarRiding on Umar Nisars belligerent knock of undefeated 86 off 66 balls, Islamia College Alumni cricket team beat Government Degree College Ganderbal by two wickets in the first semis of 11th Prof. Yousuf Memorial Inter College Cricket Cup played at Islamia College cricket ground on Wednesday.
Batting first, GDC Ganderbal posted a mammoth total of 241 for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 30 overs thanks largely to Danish. The right hander was in scintillating form muscling a 70-ball 108 and he was aided by 12-ball 34 from Suhail. Owais Shah took two while Shahid,Yawar and Mushtaq took one wicket each for Alumni team.

Chasing a mammoth target of 242, Alumni team played with a positive frame of mind from the word to scale down the target with three balls to spare and two wickets in the shed. Umar Nisar was the protagonist of the successful chase slamming 66 while Raees Mir hit 47 off just 30 balls. For Ganderbal team Basit took three wickets. Danish got a brace of wickets.
Principal Islamia College was the chief guest on the first semifinal and had a formal introduction with both the teams at the beginning of the match.
The second semifinal of the tournament will be played between the Hosts Islamia College and A S College Srinagar today. The tournament is being organised by the department of Physical Education Islamia College Srinagar.
