Srinagar: United Jehad Council, an amalgam of militant outfits based in Muzaffarabad Monday retracted its protest calendar beginning July 8 to 13 and restricted it to Pakistan controlled Kashmir.
UJC issued a statement saying that it venerates and trusts Joint Resistance leadership based in Srinagar and they are authorised to issue protest calendar for the upcoming days.
The statement sent to local news agencies, spokesman Syed Sadakat Hussain said, a confusion and misunderstanding was advertently or inadvertently created after UJC issued a schedule from July 8 to 13, under a well chalked out strategy.
Now UJC has decided to restrict this schedule to Base Camp only while on ground in Kashmir, Joint Resistance Leadership will take a final call, the spokesperson said adding that the unity between freedom loving people of Kashmir and joint resistance leadership is dearer to Unite Jehad Council.
UJC, it bears mention, had issued a weeklong protest calendar coinciding with the first anniversary of Burhan Wani, the Hizb commander whose killing on July 8 last year sparked a year long unrest in Kashmir.
